What is the Alexander Technique?

The Alexander Technique is an educational method of releasing unwanted muscular tension throughout your body. By teaching you how to change faulty postural habits, it enables you to have improved mobility, posture and performance, along with RELIEF FROM PAIN AND STRESS!

Does the Alexander Technique Work?

The Alexander Technique has been scientifically proven effective for long-term chronic back pain relief!

A study from the British Journal of Medicine (BMJ), 579 subjects with chronic back pain received either massage, six Alexander lessons with exercise, twenty-four Alexander lessons, or nothing.

One year after the study: The group with 6 Alexander lessons and exercise had 11 days of pain per month. The group with 24 Alexander lessons reported 3 days pain per month!

What Can I Expect in a First Lesson?

Your lesson will involve light hands-on touch and verbal guidance.  You may be on a table lying on your back, sitting in a chair, and/ or moving in an activity. Watch the BMJ video above to see some styles of using the Alexander technique.
